Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide nation-wide remote and on-site technical support and emergency issue resolution for mission-critical palletizer systems and packaging equipment and related accessories
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade systems involving automation, electrical, mechanical, and 3rd party components
  • Leverage technology skills and business process knowledge to improve efficiency, quality, throughput, and uptime of systems
  • Collaborate with other professionals and managers to research, design, and implement cost-effective solutions to solve challenging technical problems while minimizing scope creep and downtime
  • Create, maintain, and update documentation, source code, and visual media on company shared access storage as it relates to PLCs, HMI’s, network configurations, device calibrations, technical processes, service records, and maintenance requirements
  • Recommend spare parts and stocking levels to maximize uptime and redundancy while minimizing cost and risk
  • Continually take advantage of learning opportunities to research, develop, update and expand knowledge, skills, and abilities, and apply them to current jobs as needed to achieve success
  • Perform other special projects and duties as assigned

Expert Skills:

  • Extensive experience in programming, troubleshooting, and repairing automation systems and distributed I/O
  • C/C++ / Python / firmware / automation / PLC and HMI programming knowledge
  • Deep understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP and UDP/IP stacks, wire-level and fieldbus protocols, RF communications, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, WiFi, and more)
  • Working knowledge of VoIP, IoT, and cloud technologies
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and interconnected systems in an efficient and accurate manner with and without schematics or technical documentation
  • Experience with commercial and open-source automation tools
  • Ability to communicate and articulate technical information across various organizational and technical skill levels
